West Ave & Other Poems

West Ave

Violence and colors take over the street
Taggings and numbers only to be seen
Dope and smoke fills the air
Nobody slow down to stare
Walking alone most people won't
Your parents will always tell you don't
As you grow up you will see all the fuss
You can see the rust
You will almost understand that there is no trust
Sunset is down the street
The feeling there is just defeat
The pigs have stopped coming around
Everyone around here will just turn them down
So if you walk on my street be sure to watch your feet

Untitled

Walking down the aisle in the store

Stop by the bottle she's a fool
It's calling her name she knows it's foul
She grabs it    walks to the counter
Day and night she drinks until there's no light
Just another sip may numb the pain
Maybe she's doing it in vain
Sip until the demons fade away
Today will be just another day
She stumbles drunkenly around
The bottle turned the smile into a frown
She realizes the bottle will take her away
It will not take me away for another day

Untitled

Mommy wake up
Daddy's with a slut
The smoke coursing through your lungs
Please do not be this bum
Nodding in and out
Is this your reality now
Heroin really isn't the way to win
You're living life as a sin
Wake up wake up
You're putting us in a rut
Open your eyes so you can see again
Mommy please don't fall asleep again
